SSA Launches a New Position!

My name is Jessica Kirsner, and I am the Development Associate for the Secular Student Alliance. I wanted to give you a heads up on a new crowdfunding initiative the SSA is launching!

We are looking to create a new position for the SSA called the Rapid Response Organizer (RRO): someone ready, willing, and able to provide in-person moral, strategic, and diplomatic support anywhere in the country to secular students receiving pushback from their institutions or communities. This person will also travel when secular students do particularly amazing work.

The RRO will work to mitigate negative situations (including documenting via photographs, interviews, etc.), spread the most complete facts to news media, and amplify the positive work of secular students. The RRO will also look to help groups just starting out and, based on interest, get the students plugged into the broader movement as individual activists. The RRO will be able to take advantage of the SSA’s partnership with the Freedom from Religion Foundation when diplomatic outreach to an administration fails.

More information can be found at

Let me know if you have any questions about the Rapid Response Organizer or the SSA in general! Have an awesome day

Tori Parker

Tori Parker

Tori is a high school English teacher from Ohio (insert cheerleader kick here)! She is emphatic! She is skeptical! She is nifty! Her boyfriend says that they can get a potbellied pig someday and name him Bacon. She has a little boy whose pseudonym is SC, although he has recently asked that his name be changed to Henry. When asked for a comment to add on this bio, he asked, "Why do we sound like a bad '70's cop show?" So there's that.

Oh, I am so tempted to apply for this! I already have student affairs and Provost’s office experience ;p
I suspect you’re looking for someone a bit younger though.

Bug girl… you should still apply! I don’t think they have a specific age range in mind. They’re such a nice group of people — I’d apply if I wasn’t already buried in work stuff 🙂
