Pop Quiz: How do you stay organized?

It’s the end of the semester. My brain is dead. My office is in the middle of a move and there is stuff EVERYWHERE. My brain is just as scattered as my office and I just don’t know what to do! And I’m not even teaching a class at the moment. How do you all keep up?

What are your favorite productivity and organization techniques? Do you have an app for that?

The Pop Quiz is a question posed to you, the Scholars of Doubt. Look for it to appear Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons (ET).

  1. I sure wish I did. I will say that I am now completely reliant on my phone’s calendar; the trick is remembering to put stuff in it…

  2. Yes, that! Same goes for everything else. I like Wunderlist, but use Trello with my colleagues for group stuff. But then when I get behind, it gets OMG overwhelming.

  3. I use Google calendar, but when it comes down to it I get the most mileage out of an old skool desk calendar that I write all over. I don’t even know why that works so well for me; maybe it’s just because I can see the whole month in one snapshot and my brain finds that easier to file. Also, I throw all paperwork that needs to be filed into one drawer, and then periodically I dump the whole mess on the desk of our work study student and ask her to make it stop sucking. Luckily she’s good at it.
