Pop Quiz: Plans for Pi Day?

Since I myself tend to forget about and/or otherwise miss minor holidays that don’t involve days off work or major cultural activities (e.g. Burns Night, Talk Like a Pirate Day, just about everyone’s birthday), I thought you all might appreciate a reminder that Friday (3.14) is Pi Day!

I definitely remember having math teachers in school who did fun activities for Pi day, although admittedly not all of them were particularly educational. In fact, sometimes I wonder if all the pie-baking and eating that occurs on March 14th has started to distract from the original message of pastry redeeming us from all sin irrational constants being totally amazing.

Let’s not let our decadent modern obsession with delicious baked goods lead us (and our children!) astray.

Keep the Pi in Pi Day, I say!

Do you have any plans for Friday, in class or out? Do you also have trouble remembering holidays like Pi Day? What’s your favourite kind of pie?

The Pop Quiz is a question posed to you, the Scholars of Doubt. Look for it to appear Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons (ET).
